My journey into aged care began in Ontario, Canada, 15 years ago whilst volunteering at my local hospital. It was there that I discovered a true passion for working with seniors, especially those living with dementia. I was introduced to diversional therapy during my time at the hospital, and from that moment, I knew I had found my calling. The way meaningful activities and personalized support could transform the lives of seniors left a lasting impression on me.
Over the years, I've identified significant gaps in the aged care system, particularly in offering personalized, individualized support for seniors, as well as providing realistic resources for the dedicated family and professionals who care for them. Motivated by these observations, I started Seniors Support Services & Consulting to bridge these gaps, ensuring both seniors and those who care for them receive the support and care they deserve.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Adult Development & Aging and an Advanced Diploma in Diversional Therapy.
I have worked as a Diversional Therapist in aged care facilities, day centres, hospitals, and in communities across Canada and Australia, focusing on enhancing the lives of seniors, particularly those living with dementia.
My professional experience also includes working as a Dementia Consultant, supporting families and organizations in understanding dementia, as well as organizing dementia education programs for various organizations. Additionally, I have expertise in managing Home Care Packages and implementing Intergenerational Programs across communities in NSW.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with communities and aged care organizations across Australia, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s strengths and challenges.
